Catch the Phrase

I’m sure that each of us has a quote, or a phrase, or just a saying that we say a lot … well, you probably have a lot of different ones depending on the circumstance.

One that has come up for me a lot along the path of walking into my purpose and embarking on this journey to become a Life & Accountability Coach is “Change your perspective. Change your mindset. Change your life.” I can’t tell you where it came from, or how it has evolved into being something that i find myself saying quite often when someone finds themselves expressing a negative thought, limitation, or some other self imposed limiting belief.

To me, it’s a way to look at life, the things that happen to you, and the things that you see and encounter. It can easily be a motto for the way you see life and the way that you live life. I think that it has become almost like an affirmation for my subconscious, something that is just constantly playing in the background of my mind.

At this point, I’m making it a part of my slogan and turning it into my catch phrase. I think it’s made up of relatively straightforward, simple, and easy to understand words on the surface. When you combine them together and allow them to build on each other, don’t allow yourself to overcomplicate it and talk yourself out of the simplicity and straightforwardness of the words.

Change your perspective, change your mindset, change your life is something that I believe in. So, I use it and apply it to my daily life. I hope that through digging a little deeper into what these words and phrases mean to me, it will maybe become something that you can use and apply in your daily life as well - or at least take the time to think about it and reflect on it.

Now, let's talk about it …

Change.

Change is the common denominator in each part of my newly defined “catch phrase”.

Before there can be any change, you have to first decide to change …

Change is hard.

Change is uncomfortable.

But, change is your choice!

Change, the cycle of change, and breaking that cycle is a whole different animal for a whole different day, any maybe at some point a blog. But, if you want a quick look into it … I recorded a video on the parts of the cycle of change as well as a video on breaking the cycle of change … but these videos are just an introduction to it because like I said, a whole different animal for a whole different day.

Once you decide to change, you have to be willing to commit to it and go through the ups and downs that come along with the change, in order to get to the place you’re trying to go …

Change your perspective.

Your perspective is your outlook on life. Your perspective is yours and yours alone. Each of us can have a different perspective on the exact same situation. Which of us is right … which of us is wrong?!? Both … neither.

Think about Uno cards for a minute - the number 6 and the number 9 - the makers of Uno put the line under the number because without that, the numbers would be otherwise very similar or very different, depending on where you’re sitting at around that Uno circle. Doing this prevents there from being any other different perspective or view on these numbers, unlike the many other rules of Uno that are subject to interpretation or Uno now telling us that we're wrong even though we’ve been playing this way our whole entire lives … but I digress ...

Even there, which rules are right and which rules are wrong? Perspective. So, telling someone that they’re wrong or someone telling you that you're wrong is all a matter of perspective.

Our perspective is shaped by the things that we have gone through, have encountered, and the way that we see life or situations based off of this. Changing your perspective is changing how you view things.

You get to choose your perspective, because like I said, your perspective is yours and yours alone. So decide, do you want to change your view on things, or do you want to keep

Change your mindset.

If perspective is how you view things, mindset is how you think or process the things that you see or encounter in your mind.

Taking a bad situation and turning it into a good … always looking for the bad in things … Those are all a matter of mindset.

So how can you change your mindset? It’s a choice.

The act, the choice, and the decision to change your mindset is yours.

It takes commitment. It takes effort. It takes intentionality.

When something occurs, when something is said … you have to take the time to think about it.

When you think about it, you want to think about what you want the outcome to be.

You’re in control of your emotions because emotions are a verb, they are an action.

You choose how you react … and your emotional state and the reaction it produces come from your mindset.

When you take the time (and I do mean time) to shift and adjust the mindset you produce. It will take time and practice to make this happen because you have to learn yourself, learn how to control your mindset, and learn what it takes for you to shift your mindset.

Changing your mindset is the beginning of you taking control, so that you can then move on to changing your life …

Change your life.

You’ve changed your perspective. You’ve changed your mindset.

Now, you’re ready to change your life.

Then, let’s do it!

Changing your perspective and changing your mindset has likely given you a lot of insights into yourself as well as into your life.

What have you done with the things that have come to you?!?

Did you write them down? Did you think about them? Did you reflect on them?

The things that you have learned about yourself while you changed your perspective and changed your mindset, are the insights that you'll need in order to make the changes needed to change your life.

Just like changing your mindset requires intentionality ... you better believe that changing your life does too! If you think that you can change your life without focusing and paying attention to it … you just might be living an entirely different life than that one that you hope to live.

If you aren’t in control of your life, that means that someone else is in charge. The choice to change, and take control, is your choice

What are you looking to gain in life by taking control?!?

Catch the Phrase.

Perspective change. Mindset changed. Life changed.

So, how can applying this help you in life? It’s pretty much the key to unlocking your ability to take ownership and control of your own life.

If you’re stuck on any of these phases … you’re not sure how to change your perspective … you’re not sure how to change your mindset … and because of that, you’re not sure how to change your life, let’s chat!

Or, if you know how to do the work but you want to dig deeper into putting them into action, let’s chat

What’s your quote, phrase, or saying that you have come up with or adopted while going through this thing called life?

I want to know - comment below and share!

Until next time … never forget … change your perspective, change your mindset, change your life.
