You Can do It … Put Your Mind Into It …

You can do anything you put your mind to and you can do anything you believe you can.

So, let’s open up your mind and look at that … The thoughts in our mind will keep you hostage, if you let them.

So, why are you rebelling when it comes to goal setting? Why are you telling yourself that you can’t set and achieve your goals?

What if you free your mind and stop the rebellion?!?

What does that look like?!?

Oh … we’re going to talk about it

Free Your Mind

What does freeing your mind look like?

Freeing your mind is letting go of and relinquishing the things that aren’t serving you. It’s being willing to open up your mind to let in the good while letting go of the bad.

Freeing your mind will look differently for each of us, because my perspective and beliefs are different from yours.

But, what goes into freeing your mind?

It’s believing in yourself. It’s visualizing success. It's knowing it’s ok not to be perfect. And it's knowing that you can change your excuses.

You know one of my favorite things to say, if you change your perspective, if you change your mindset, you can change your life. So yes, let’s dive into what’s involved with freeing your mind …

Believe in Yourself

If you don’t believe in yourself, it doesn’t matter who else does. Because your belief in yourself is what will allow you to put in the work, or not. So, it doesn’t matter how much I believe that you can do it and believe in you and, if you don’t do the work … It means nothing!

This is why believing in yourself plays an important role in whether you're able to achieve the results you want or not.

Let's say you want to go back to school to get a higher degree, but you don’t believe that you can actually pass the tests needed for it. Then guess what, you can’t!

This lack of belief in yourself will lead to a lack of motivation in yourself, which means you won’t even try. Well, you might “try” but the effort you’re putting in is a direct reflection of your thoughts towards actually accomplishing it.

Envision yourself reaching your goal to create belief that it will actually happen. So, take some time to think of your past successes. Think of things that you’ve accomplished in the past.

You see it now? When you believed you could do those things, and you did.

So, let’s bring those same beliefs into the future. No matter the obstacles and the challenges, you can still do it. Nobody ever said the journey would be easy, but the journey will be worth it.

Keep the belief. The current goal is a reality. You can in fact succeed. And you will … If you believe in yourself!

Visualize Your Success

Now, I know I told you to envision yourself reaching the goal, that doesn’t mean that you’ve visualized your success. They’re different … Envisioning you accomplishing the goal goes to your belief that you can do it, but a goal is typically a stepping stone on the ladder to success. When it comes to visualizing success, that’s a matter of taking the accomplishment of the goals to another level.

So, visualizing success is seeing yourself having accomplished the goals that you set out to accomplish and then seeing the details of what that means for your life.

Take some time to actually visualize what it would not only look like, but also what it would feel like, for you to achieve your goal and to have success.

Get into this visualization experience … Go deep and visualize as much detail as possible. How do you feel? Are their others there to cheer you on?

Anytime you need that extra boost or burst of motivation, go ahead and close your eyes, and imagine what you would see if your dream was realized.

It’s Okay to Not Be Perfect

Here’s your reminder that there’s no such thing as perfect. Real isn’t perfect and perfect isn’t real. So, it should come as no surprise that it’s ok to not be perfect.

Accept your mistakes. If you’re willing to acknowledge your mistakes, then others will as well. And, if they aren’t … Then those are people that you just might not really need in your life.

It’s ok to not be perfect, that’s what the whole point of this is about. In reality, this means that not being perfect gives you something to learn from.

Everytime something less than “perfect” happens, look at it and learn from it. If you’re willing to learn the lesson from everything, then you’re on the right track. Find the lesson, learn it, and move on!

And, if you find yourself not quite on the right track when looking for the lesson, make the adjustments needed to correct your behavior, adjust your decisions, and then get back on the right path.

Know You Can Change Your “Excuses Habit”

Excuses are nothing more than tools of the enemy, and sometimes that enemy is you. Did I just … Yes, yes I said it.

We talked about excuses last week with the “But, Because” blog. If you didn’t read it I suggest you do, because it goes into the difference between having excuses and really having a reason why.

But, if you’re in the habit of making excuses, it’s time to break that habit. And, if you don’t see the problem with excuses, then that my dear, is a problem. Oh, and if you think that you aren’t in the “habit” of making excuses, then that my dear, is also a problem.

When it comes to this habit of making excuses, or the repeated desire or need to do so, you can tackle it and break the habit. Let’s work on creating a habit of success. A habit of achievement. In order to do that, you have to get real with yourself and figure out what you’re really trying to avoid.

If you’re willing to do the work to identify that, you can stop making excuses and start getting the results you want. Have a clear vision of what you want for the future … That’s where the visualization and envisioning that you were doing earlier will come in.

Look, it’s time to cut the excuses! You’ve been making excuses all month long, all year long, and here we are about to start another year … Let’s change it up!

So, the next time there’s an opportunity that will help you get closer to achieving a goal and that will help you along the path to success, say yes to it. Don’t make an excuse.

Put Your Mind Into It

You’ve freed your mind of all these doubts and things that were keeping you from your goals and from success, so now let’s put your mind back into it. Wait … How are you going to do this? If I’ve helped you to free your mind, how can I not expect you to put your mind back into it? I mean … I’m me, so easily.

If you really want to do something, then you will do it. There's nothing really overly complicated about it. Because if you’ve created and visualized yourself achieving your goals, having success, and along the way accepting that you won’t be perfect, while also letting go of excuses, then you have done a lot of putting your mind into it already.

Put your mind into it by putting your mindset to work. If you look at freeing your mind as working on changing your perspective, then putting your mind into it is changing your mindset. Putting your mind into it is doing the work to free your mind, then taking this new mindset that you’ve developed and putting it to work to do the actual work to get to the goals and success.
