Let's Work Through it ... Stop the Rebellion

blog post image - Let's Work Through it - Stop the Rebellion

We’ve talked about taking responsibility, we’ve talked about prioritizing self, and you were all in for it … Until you weren’t.

Look, I know y'all by now, even if you aren’t ready to be honest with yourself about it. I get you, and that’s why when you read what I’m saying you’re often like, is she talking to me? And the answer is yes, yes I am!

Whether you’re ready to receive it or not, I’m going to keep talking to you, or at you, if you aren’t ready to receive it. Because the more that you hear it, the more that it will continue to try to penetrate through that layer that’s keeping you stuck and having you to rebel against change.

Like I said, I know you!

Well, maybe now you’re on this rebellion train, but you won’t be there for much longer, hopefully!

  You Rebelling?

It's Time to Rebel - Stop the Rebellion blog

Why am I saying that you’re rebelling, or on the rebellion train? Because you were in, until you weren’t. Life happened, the new year and new month momentum is wearing off, and you’re struggling to keep pushing through that desire to take responsibility, that decision and ability to prioritize yourself with all the other things that you’re trying to balance in life, and now you’re trying to process it, but you’re pulling back.

So, just like I know you by now, you should know me. And that means, you should know that I’m going to ask you some questions that you can use to process and ask yourself when it comes to this rebelling that you’re having.

You know my favorite question to ask is why. So, let’s start there … When you’re rebelling and saying you don’t want to do something, why is that?

Don’t say that you don’t know. You do know, you just have to get to the root of it and really get into it.

Now I want to make sure that we’re keeping this focused around the aspect of you taking responsibility for your life and prioritizing yourself and then we’re relating that to goals and goal setting. I’m going to break it down … Don’t worry.

So when it comes to taking responsibility, that’s where you’re owning it. You’re not placing the blame on anyone else … You’re not trying to take the easy way out or just delegating the blame game. But instead, you’re going out and taking action as opposed to letting others do and you just reaping the benefits (or consequences) of the action.

Is that where you’re pushing back?!? Why? … I’m not even about to rehash for you what I’ve already told you about the importance of taking responsibility, so just go back and read the blog if you’re stuck there.

Ok, you’re good with taking responsibility, but the whole act of prioritizing self because everyone else needs you and you just have to wait is where you’re at? You think that you aren’t important? Well, if you aren’t important, then when are they important? Oh … Harsh, I mean, I’m giving it to you real. The sugarcoating isn’t helping you, in fact it’s pacifying you, which is why you’re in this same spot and position at this point, so let’s get past it.

I’ve gone into detail on prioritizing self in the last blog, so yea, go back and read that.

Now that we got that out of the way, and you’re working on figuring out why you’re in the rebellion stage. You need to ask yourself why … Why are you so against this?

  • Will it hurt you?

  • Will it harm others?

  • Will it benefit others?

  • Does it require work … or sacrifice?

  • Are you scared?

Think about it. Rebellion is often rooted in fear. It’s the fear of you stretching outside your comfort zone. You’re so against change and changing because you’re afraid, it’s different, it’s new, you’re not used to this … So this is causing you to push back. You’re out there creating all these scenarios in your head and going down this long rabbit hole of “what ifs”.

Now, if you’re still stuck I can give you the answer - the long and short version is: it’s your mindset. It’s the things that you’re thinking and saying about yourself, your life, and what you deserve. You know what I’m going to say now: If you change your perspective, you can change your mindset, and then you can change your life.

But, just like I can just give you the answer, I want to make sure that you’re understanding the process so that you can get there on your own as well.

How Does this Relate to Goals?

Quote: Wish for it Hope for it Dream of It -But by All means Do it

Ok, so I told you to focus your thoughts in this discussion around your goals and the goal setting process. The better question becomes how does this not relate to goals?

We’re halfway through the first month of the year, you came into 2022 hot - You had these goals, these plans, and you were ready for this fresh outlook and this new year full of opportunities … And now, because you’re halfway through the month, you’re starting to feel the effects of the year and it’s going back to feeling real 2021, or even real 2020, at this point.

It’s all about goals! Because your push back is pushing you further away from your goals and doing the work to go after them. If you aren’t willing to work on you, for you, how can you be expected to work on your goals? I mean, after all, aren’t your goals about you?

Are you sensing now, how it relates to goals? Yes, taking responsibility and prioritizing yourself is going to make a difference and an impact in not only the way that you live life, the way that you show up in life, but in what you do in life. This is going to go to your ability to set goals, do the work to achieve your goals, and to navigate your way through the ups and downs in life that are trying to affect the way and ability to do so.

Well, let’s take a step back now.

You have goals. You’re ready to achieve these goals, but you’re stuck, or at least you feel stuck. You’ve decided to push back … You’re not going to rebell anymore, you’re going to do it. What now? I got you.

Let’s Fix This

white out tape in blue

I’m going to go back to what we started with, but in a different way that will apply here. It starts with you taking responsibility for your life. Your decision to not only set and achieve these goals, but your decision to push back against life that’s trying to stop you and knock you down is you taking that responsibility.

I’m proud of your decision and commit to do so.

Now, you’re going to work on surrounding yourself with people that will support you, who will pour into you, who will encourage you, and who will be there for you as you’re on this journey.

Take responsibility for those that you allow to be involved in your journey. And, once you’ve cultivated this circle who supports you, listen to them! Now, I’m not saying let them dictate your life, but if you’re putting them in your life, and they are telling you things, listen to what they say and then process that information.

And since you’re here reading this … Just know that I’d love to be one of those people for you, so I hope you stick around. Feel free to drop me a line and let me know what I can do to be that person for you as well.

Now that you’ve taken responsibility for your life, you're going to use prioritizing self as well to help. Sit with yourself on both your goals, and with what that support or accountability circle has said. As you’re processing the information, or even just reflecting, feel free to make a list. Weigh out the pros and cons - what is the good in it, what are the risks, which is better?

You have to do the work here. Don’t get scared … Don’t pull back. NO - Don’t rebel on this. Keep going and keep pushing … Make yourself proud.

Stop the Rebellion

So, if you’re going to quit rebelling … What are you going to do?!?

You’re taking responsibility for your life, you’re prioritizing self, and you’re doing the work to go after your goals!

Look, I get it - I told you it’s all about your mindset and it’s not really a secret there. You might know the issue, but you might not be ready to work through it on your own. Or, you might not even know the issue, or be willing to admit that it’s the issue. Well, let’s talk about it … Let me help you!

You know that stopping the rebelling … taking responsibility for your life and prioritizing self … Can mean asking for help, right!?!?

Hey, everybody else isn’t concerned about asking you for help and calling on you in their time of need, which is why you’re in this situation now, so why are you so against reaching out and asking for help?

Well, since that’s not the issue anymore … And you get that help is good, reach out and let’s talk.

Oh, and because we talked about goals, and how January might be causing some ups and downs in your goals, we’re going to talk about that in the next blog.

So, if you have any specific questions about that, feel free to drop them below. But in the next blog, I’m talking about going after your goals when life is happening.

Now that you’ve let go of these things, let’s not go back to them. You’ve rebelled against change for the last time …
